Does your Arthritis Pain keep you from

enjoying Life

Nightshade vegetables are among the foods that some people feel can trigger arthritis flares. Others feel their arthritis symptoms improve when nightshade vegetables are avoided. What are nightshade vegetables? According to The George Mateljan Foundation, food members of the nightshade family include:

potatoes (not sweet potatoes)
tomatoes
eggplant
sweet and hot peppers (including paprika, cayenne pepper and Tabasco sauce)
ground cherries
tomatillos and tamarillos
garden huckleberry and naranjillas
pepinos and pimentos

Should people with arthritis avoid nightshade vegetables? According to the University of Washington website, "No foods have been definitively shown to cause or exacerbate arthritis in most individuals. A variety of diets and hand-me-down information exists about certain foods and arthritis, in particular the night shade plants, but none of it has been proven." The effect of foods on arthritis symptoms vary greatly from person to person. It is an individual decision whether or not to avoid nightshade vegetables."

I believe Food Sensitivities vary with the individual. My food sensitivities are different from my husband's. The one food sensitivity we have in common is potatoes. He is also sensitive to Cayenne Pepper and Ginger, but I am not.

Ginger Root, Tumeric, and Cayenne Pepper are the number one Inflammation reducers, unless they happen to be on your sensitivity list. We have a product called Inflavanoid Intensive Care that contains Tumeric and Ginger root, and is very effective in taking away Sciatica and arthritic pain.

If you suffer from Arthritis you can begin by eliminating the night shade family and see if you feel better. If that doesn't work, you may want to consider a Food Sensitivity Test.

We have a Food Sensitivity Test in our office that requires a Blood draw. Our Lab tests 205 foods. Each food is introduced to the blood. If the red blood cells remain intact, no sensitivity is listed. However if the blood cells are destroyed by that food, the food is considered a food sensitivity. These foods are not Food Allergies, because they don't kill you. They just make you feel bad. The individual eating that food can have all sorts of reactions, which can include: chronic sinusitis, nasal congestion, depression, joint pain, indigeston, gas, burping, belching, digestion problems, constipation, chronic colds, dizziness, bedwetting, etc.

The Food Sensitivity test costs around $350.00. You are required to fast for 12 hours before the test. It can be scheduled at 8:00 AM on Monday, Tuesday or Thursday, at Middlebury Chiropractic Clinic, Call 574-824-9124 and ask for your Food Sensitivity Test.
